Pierre LeBrun is a Complete Fucking Turd

Look, sports is chock full of complete losers who will lionize the least important things and emphatically shirk the tiniest shred of humanity if it means their favorite colored shirts will be more likely to win games.  You would hope that someone who has (allegedly) made it through journalism school would at least rise above the common level mouthbreathers in terms of the perspective they provide.  You would be disappointed.

ESPN fuckstick Pierre LeBrun is going to stick with being that first sentence above, recently reducing the horrific domestic violence of Slava Voynov to a “surreal” distraction while simultaneously bemoaning that the NHL used to have fewer complete pieces of shit than other professional sports leagues.

“The NHL is not accustomed to headlines involving arrests and court dates.

That’s normally for other sports leagues.”

What a fucking asshole.  I don’t know how devoid of humanity you have to be to 1. compare a domestic violence incident and a substance abuse problem to Jarrett Stoll smuggling cocaine and 2. reduce all three to “lol distraction!” but that’s the very first thing LeBrun does while also making it not about the human victims of those crimes, but instead the NHL’s fucking image.

Which is maybe the worst thing about it because the NHL’s image, if you’ve been paying attention, is dog shit.  That link contains a list of the approximately 120 hockey players, many of them NHLers who have been involved in incidents of domestic violence, sexual assault, or harassment, most of whom having incurred no substantial penalty, if any at all.

Maybe the NHL is “not accustomed” to such headlines because spineless rape culture supporting “journalists” like Pierre LeBrun won’t write them, instead reducing incidents to mere distractions and just talking about the sports aspect even though that’s all we ever fucking talk about because professional journalists are apparently not equipped to handle complex uncomfortable issues like domestic violence and sexual assault.  Maybe it’s because there’s really only one reason a hockey journalist can dock a player for “character issues.”
